  • Mark 10:17-19 – [FIVE OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS] As Jesus was leaving, a man ran up and kneeled down to him. He asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?” 18Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? Only God is good. 19But I will answer your question. You know the commands: ‘You must not commit murder.’ ‘You must not commit adultery.’ ‘You must not steal.’ ‘You must not lie.’ ‘You must not cheat anyone.’
  • Mark 17:20-27 – 20The man said to Jesus, “Teacher, I have obeyed all these commands since I was a boy!” 21Jesus loved the man. He looked into his eyes and said to him, “But there is still one more thing you need to do: Go, sell everything you have, and give the money to the poor people. Then you will have a treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me!” 22But when Jesus said this, the man’s face looked gloomy. He went away sad, because he owned many things and wanted to keep them. 23Then Jesus looked around and said to his followers, “It will be hard for people who own many things to enter the kingdom of God.” 24The followers were amazed at Jesus’ words. Again, Jesus said to them, “Friends, it is so hard to enter the kingdom of God. 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God!” 26Jesus’ followers were completely amazed. They said to one another, “Then who can be saved?” 27Jesus looked into their eyes and said, “God can do things which do not seem possible to man. God can do anything!”
  • Luke10:27 – The man answered, “ ‘You must love the Lord your God from all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind.’g Also, ‘You must love your neighborh the same way you love yourself.’ ”i
  • Mark 10:28-29 – Then Peter began to say to Jesus, “Look, we have left everything and followed you!” 29Jesus said, “I am telling you the truth: Every person who has left his home, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or fields (because of me and because of the Good News)
