LIFE APPLICATION
~In this account, everyone was submitting to people they did not want to submit to. The Supreme Council to the Roman prefect; former royalty, son of Herod the Great, to the Supreme Council; Jesus to them all. But ultimately Jesus won. The Psalms of the Bible often say that God will fight for people when they are weak so that ultimately they will win. In some countries, bad people rule, but eventually, a good one comes to power. Do you think God has a hand in such events?
~Reincarnation was taught at that time by both the Hindus and Buddhists not far away in India. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27 that it is appointed unto man once to die, then the judgment. Although some people see reincarnation as a wonderful form of immortality, it just forces a person to go through the difficulties of life over and over. Furthermore, the cycle cannot be broken until the person is perfect. This is a philosophy of futility. No one can be perfect in every attitude, every deed, every word. So Jesus came to be perfect for us (2 Corinthians 5:21) and free us after spending only one life here on earth. What advantages does Jesus offer over other world religions?
~It was prophesied 700 years before Jesus’ birth that he would be tortured by beating and his beard pulled out (Isaiah 50:6). No wonder Jesus dreaded his death process. It was not only body torture but also spirit torture. Yet Isaiah 53:10-11 says that his suffering was in our place for our sins. Whenever we sin, we follow Satan and belong to him. He holds us hostage. Jesus paid the ransom Satan demanded so we could be allowed into heaven without punishment. How does that make you feel about Jesus?
